Harry von Stark - Photographer
Harry von Stark immigrated to the US from Germany at five years old after spending 18 months in school. Being a child growing up in a new country presented many challenges, particularly learning a new language. He grew up in a small Central California farming community which allowed him to roam free and try to understand street names, and names in general.
Learning came mostly by visual associations which intensified his visual perceptions rather than by word associations, hence his passion for photography. That experience became ingrained in his memory where he tends to see things as lines, shapes, and curves. Harry received a graphic design diploma from Platt Graphics College San Francisco. His graphic arts background gives him a unique perspective on photography. Harry now lives and works on Whidbey Island, WA.
